Opening my Etsy store...need to brainstorm!

I'm at a point where I'm ready to start working on things to sell in my Etsy store.  I can't really seem to think of anything to sell!  I need to do some serious brainstorming.

Quilt Book Wish List Take 1

There are a few quilting books out there that I've been drooling over lately.  First off, there's The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt by Laurie Aaron Hird.  (Currently $18.47 on Amazon)

(From Amazon)
In 1922, The Farmer's Wife magazine posed this question to their readers: "If you had a daughter of marriageable age, would you, in light of your own experience, have her marry a farmer?" The magazine at that time had 750,000 subscribers, and received over 7,000 letters. The best answers to this question are included in this book, along with the traditional quilt blocks they inspired.
Laurie Aaron Hird provides everything you need to be inspired and create your own sampler quilt:
  • 111 six-inch quilt blocks, with construction diagrams for piecing the blocks and template cutting directions
  • Complete instruction for making a sampler quilt in any traditional size: lap, twin, queen or king
  • CD with easy-to-print, full-sized templates for all 111 blocks, and printable quilt construction diagrams
  • 42 letters from the 1922 Farmer?s Wife contest to give you a priceless glimpse into our country?s past
There's currently a quilt along going on, with the challenge being to complete 2 (of 111) 6" blocks per week until it's finished.  It's been hugely popular, and I can't wait to jump onboard the bandwagon!

There's a post on Fat Quarterly about it, and there's a flickr pool as well.

A blast from the past

Look at this beauty:

Absolutely every stitch of that was done by hand, by me.  I didn't own a sewing machine at the time (amazing how far I've come since then, that was Fall 2008)  When I say every stitch, I mean quilting, construction, letters, etc.  Everything.

A lot of love went into that baby <3

Dr. Seuss!

Parker's Dr. Seuss quilt is officially in progress!  Warning:  the photos are TERRIBLE.  I couldn't find my camera, and the lighting in my sewing room is awful...so...yeah.  Bare with me.  Hopefully soon I can update with much better photos.

I couldn't find a pattern I thought would be simple enough without being boring.  By simple I mean not busy.  It is for an almost two year old, after all!  So, I went to my "design wall" and played around for a while, and this is what I came up with.

Here are the blocks I originally made, and will now get quilted individually and hung on the wall (once finished of course, the second still needs a white border.)

Gorgeous fabric alert!

I got a package in the mail today...a birthday package!!

Beautiful, right?  One "Terrain" by the amazingly talented Kate Spain, three yards of Moda Bella Solids in Porcelain, and 1 yard Terrain in Berry Dahlia.

The pattern I'll be using is "Double Dutch" by littlelouisequilts found here for $9.00.
